James Maddison said he is ‘desperate’ to make an impression on England in the World Cup.
James Maddison suffered an injury on the night of the competition after just making Gareth Southgate’s 26-man team, and it was anticipated he would need to be replaced.
The midfielder has recovered to health, but he is one of the few England players who have yet to play a single minute at this World Cup.
Maddison told talkSPORT that although he is doing all he can to assist his teammates off the field, he is eager to get playing time and make an impact.
Maddison stated, “Involvement is not always playing.” “I’ve learned this during the last several weeks of living out here.
“Every player wants to play, and I am no exception. I am keen to demonstrate my capabilities. However, this is my first big event at the senior level, and it’s an honor to participate.
“It’s such a steep learning curve, and you get so much experience without realizing how it works and what it takes to be successful daily. So far, we have been successful. What a performance last night, a really convincing victory in the knockout round against a strong Senegal squad.
“I’m feeling great, the injury has healed, and I’m at 100 percent. I’ve been training for some time and have participated in several previous games. It is only a matter of being patient and prepared, which I am doing by training hard and striving to be an alternative for the management if required.”

In 2019, Maddison earned his sole England cap as a substitute during a 7-0 victory against Montenegro.
Only Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, Ivan Toney, and Kevin De Bruyne have scored more goals and provided more assists in the Premier League this season. He has contributed 11 goals and assists for Leicester so far.
