At halftime of France’s 2-1 triumph over England in the FIFA World Cup quarterfinals, Antoine Griezmann delivered a motivating team talk.
The French star was in command on Saturday evening, creating most of Les Bleus’ significant chances in his new offensive midfield position.
Antoine Griezmann would set up the game-winning goal, which was scored by Olivier Giroud, with a superb cross from the left wing in the second half, but before that, he gave some incentive to his teammates in the locker room.
According to L’Equipe, the 31-year-old told his teammates, “We may never compete for a World Cup semi-final again – we all want to experience it. We can’t go home tonight, guys. We have to do more.”
While Les Bleus would lose their first-half advantage in the 54th minute thanks to a Harry Kane penalty, they would retake the lead in the 78th minute, only to see Kane miss a second penalty shortly after.
In the competition’s semi-finals, the holders will meet Morocco, the first African country to reach the final four.
