Chelsea believes they have won the fight to sign Brazilian prodigy Andrey Santos, according to “allfootballleague”.
The 18-year-old midfielder was a long-term target for Newcastle United, who were on the verge of agreeing on a deal with his club Vasco da Gama, after fending off competition from the likes of PSG.
However, as “allfootballleague” revealed, Chelsea and Barcelona both made moves in an attempt to win the battle for Santos, and the Stamford Bridge giants think they are now in a solid position to complete a deal.
Sources close to Chelsea have told “allfootballleague” that they want to reach an agreement before the January transfer market opens. At that time, they would announce a deal, which is expected to be for approximately £12 million but might rise to nearly £20 million with add-ons.
The signing would be Chelsea’s latest high-profile teenage signing since the Todd Boehly-led group took over the club last summer, after Carney Chukwuemeka, Omari Hutchinson, Gabriel Slonina, and Cesare Casadei.
Andrey Santos is a rising star who received a great endorsement from Vasco da Gama icon Juninho Pernambucano.
“On the surface, he is a monster.” “Juninho spoke highly of Santos. “His involvement in the game is complete without the ball. I was curious about his GPS since he never stops! And, technically, he is much superior to the rest.
“He’s not going to be better than me, but he’ll be a lot better. He is a lot more well-rounded player. I’m not afraid to admit that when I was 18, I didn’t play half as much as he does.”
