Julen Lopetegui, Wolves manager, has expressed optimism that Adama Traore would sign a new contract at Molineux since his present agreement is set to expire at the end of the season.
Traore played the second part of last season on loan with their old club, Barcelona, before returning to Wolverhampton for the 2022/23 season. He was initially outside Bruno Lage’s struggling team, but there may be hope for a new start under Lopetegui.
Tottenham is a long-time supporter of Traore, according to “allfootballleague,” with Antonio Conte a fan. There is also a significant interest in the Spain international from his country and Italy.
“We have given Adama a lot of thought, and we will attempt, of course, to keep him here,” said Lopetegui, who will take control of his first Premier League game when Wolves travel to Everton on Boxing Day.
“However, we’ll see. I’m not sure what will happen, but I know his dedication to us is strong, and this is my expectation as a coach. I’m not sure what will happen after that.
“I like Adama and the rest of my team’s players. For me, the top players are always on my squad since they will be the primary characters in the next games.”
Traore arrived in England from his hometown club Barcelona in 2015 and played for Aston Villa and Middlesbrough before joining Wolves in 2018, was at his finest between 2019 and 2021. However, following a dismal start to last season, he fell out of favor with Lage.
Wolves return to the Premier League bottom following the World Cup break and need their offensive players to step up, with just eight goals scored in 15 games being the primary reason they have slid into jeopardy.
