Cristiano Ronaldo has reiterated his statement that he rejected multiple offers in order to join Saudi club Al Nassr. He also claimed that his club career in Europe was over.
Ronaldo stated that numerous elite teams were interested in his signature when he originally tried to leave Old Trafford last summer, during a blockbuster interview with Piers Morgan in November, which finally led to a mutual termination of his contract with Manchester United.
However, by the end of December, Ronaldo had signed a very lucrative two-and-a-half year contract with Al Nassr after no European clubs shown interest in signing him on a free transfer.
Ronaldo gave a speech at his unveiling in Riyadh, where he discussed his decision to join a Saudi club.
“My mission is complete in Europe. To sum up: I triumphed. I was a member of Europe’s top clubs. This is a fresh test for me, “…he made the following remark.
“This is a fantastic chance for me to affect not only the way today’s youth view the game of football, but also society as a whole.
“Numerous European clubs invited me to try out, as did their Brazilian, Australian, American, and Portuguese counterparts. They made an offer, but I made a promise to this club to help promote football and other aspects of this incredible country.
“I’ve got my eye on the prize, and this may be a fantastic opportunity to advance a lot of key factors. I couldn’t care less what other people think of me. I’m overjoyed to finally make it here.
“I witnessed a lot of games, so I know the league is competitive. If there is a chance, I would like to play after tomorrow if the coach agrees. It’s my intention to stay on playing football.
“This is a great place to visit for someone like me, a rare player. When I left there, I had broken every record there, and now I hope to do the same here. This isn’t a typical contract, but then again, I’m not a typical athlete.”
Ronaldo also stated that he would like to play a role in Thursday’s Saudi Pro League encounter between Al Nassr and Al Tai at home.
