Bukayo Saka says England proved teammates felt like they showed their “quality” in their 6-2 win over Iran at the World Cup.
The Three Lions dominated their first game of the group stage, with Saka scoring two impressive goals on a memorable day at the Khalifa International Stadium.
After the game, Saka was very happy with both his own performance and that of the team as a whole.
“You know, I can’t explain how I feel. It’s amazing. Saka told BBC Sport, “I’m so happy and proud, and we won, so it’s a really special day.”
“That good start was important. Bukayo Saka says England proved before the tournament, we didn’t play our best, so there was a lot of talks and guessing about how we were doing. But we showed everyone what we can do and how good we are.
“It’s great to get the win in the end, and I can feel pressure, but we have to be accurate because we have another game in a few days.”
Saka said, “Yes, I feel like I’m in a good place. I feel like the fans are behind me, and I really feel the love from the fans, the coaching staff, and my teammates. All I need is that. I feel good and ready to give my all, which is what I did today and will continue to do every time I put on the shirt.
