According to “allfootballleague,” Chelsea has identified Sporting CP defender Pedro Porro as a possible right-back alternative.
Since joining the Portuguese giants on a permanent deal from Manchester City last summer, the 23-year-old has had a remarkable season.
He notably put in two strong performances in the Champions League against Tottenham, with “allfootballleague” lately stating that Spurs had conversations with Sporting about a trade for the Spaniard.
Tottenham isn’t the only one that adores Porro. According to “allfootballleague,” Chelsea is also looking to recruit cover at right-back this month and has identified Porro as a possible target.
However, the Blues have run into the same problem as Tottenham, with Sporting refusing to bargain and demanding that any interested club pay his €45 million release clause to sign him.
Sporting manager Ruben Amorim recently discussed the rising interest in Porro and colleague Marcus Edwards – a Spurs academy product – and said that the club is “ready” if their release conditions are satisfied.
“We are not as appealing as other leagues, and we cannot offer the same rates. This is an issue; we have this problem even with Portuguese clubs “He said.
“They just depart for the clause, as previously stated. We are prepared. Nobody here is ignorant to the number of assaults that go via Porro and Edwards. However, the market is what it is.”
