Cristiano Ronaldo said in a statement that he thinks it’s time for a new challenge after ending his contract with Manchester United on good terms.
The club confirmed Ronaldo’s departure on Tuesday with a statement of their own: “Cristiano Ronaldo has agreed to leave Manchester United, and he will do so right away.
“The club thanks him for all he did during his two stints at Old Trafford, where he scored 145 goals in 346 games, and they wish him and his family the best for the future.”
Everyone at Manchester United is still focused on keeping the team’s progress going under Erik ten Hag and working as a team to win on the field.”
Ronaldo said the following when he heard the news:
“After talking with Manchester United, we’ve both decided to get out of our contract early. I’ll always love Manchester United, and I’ll always love the fans. But I think it’s time for me to look for something new to do.
“I hope the team does well for the rest of the season and in the years to come.”
