Ecuador manager Gustavo Alfaro has said that Enner Valencia’s injury will be available to play against the Netherlands in the country’s second World Cup group stage game on Friday.
Ecuador and Valencia had a fairytale start to their World Cup campaign on Sunday, with the former Everton and West Ham striker scoring two first-half goals to defeat host country Qatar.
Valencia, on the other hand, was subjected to several heavy tackles from the Qatari opposition throughout the victory and was pulled off in the 75th minute with a possible knee injury.
Alfaro, addressing to the press after Ecuador’s game against Qatar, emphasised that the injury was not significant and that their captain will be ready to play the Netherlands: “He was questioned in Ecuador at times, but here we can see all he brings us.”
“There is no question that Enner will play against the Netherlands.”
The news will come as a tremendous comfort to Ecuador supporters, who are expecting the match against Louis van Gaal’s superb Dutch team to be a group decider.
Before facing Ecuador, the Netherlands will face Senegal, who will be without star player Sadio Mane due to an injury sustained while playing for Bayern Munich.
Enner Valencia’s injury is very huge injury and difficult to recover
