Even though the Gunners have led the way in the Premier League this season, Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag seemed to overlook them while assessing the league’s greatest dangers and rivals.
Arsenal had a five-point advantage over Manchester City during the World Cup break, having played 14 games, or more than a third of the season. The Gunners have not won the Premier League since 2003-04, nor have they even launched a credible campaign since 2007-08.
United will be 11 points behind Arsenal when the Premier League season resumes directly after the holidays. In the current rankings, a squad of Erik Ten Hag is fifth, three points behind the top four, although they have a game in hand over both Tottenham and Newcastle.
“When comparing [the Premier League] to five or ten years ago, there has been a shift in conditions. This week, Ten Hag reflected on the dynamics of the league and said, “The competition is considerably more intense.”
He also included West Ham, who have finished in the top seven in the last three seasons, but not Arsenal.
“Newcastle is coming, and so is West Ham; they may not be on the table at the moment, but they have made substantial investments.” Spurs, without question, while City, Liverpool, and Chelsea are irrelevant. There are seven or eight teams capable of competing in this league,” the manager said.
“Strategy is also involved, not simply money. However, it is obvious that if you do not have the correct athletes and players of high caliber, you will not be successful and will not reach your goals.”
