Announcing his departure from Barcelona, Gerard Pique will suit up for the last time at Camp Nou this coming Saturday.
On Thursday, Pique confirmed the shocking move by announcing in a video shared on social media that his final game will be Saturday’s match against Almeria at Camp Nou.
Under manager and former colleague Xavi, Pique has only started three La Liga games this season, with Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen, Jules Kunde, Eric Garcia, and even Marcos Alonso all getting more playing time.
Pique stated, “the last few weeks, months, plenty of people have been talking about me,” in a video he shared on social media. I have been silent up until this point. Now, however, I’d rather be the one doing the talking.
“To this day, I stand by my prediction that no other team would ever be as successful as Barça. On Saturday, I will attend my final game at Camp Nou.
It’s official: I’m going to start following you regularlya regularly basis. I’ll be there to back the squad up. I intend to instill in my offspring a passion for Barça similar to the one my parents gave to me.”
Pique, peering up at the director’s box at Camp Nou, likewise mutters, “I”ll be back.”
