Chelsea head coach Graham Potter has given an update on the recovery of defenders Reece James and Wesley Fofana.
James was ruled out of this winter’s World Cup after suffering a knee injury in the Blues’ Champions League triumph against Milan in October. Fofana has been out for most of the season in a similar condition.
Chelsea is now in Dubai for a mid-season training camp ahead of the resumption of club football, and Potter has commented on James and Fofana’s improvement.
“Reece isn’t completely trained yet, but he’s integrating into training with Wesley,” Graham Potter said.
“Wesley is a little farther behind, but not by much.”
Potter might also offer information on Ben Chilwell (hamstring), Kepa Arrizabalaga, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek (both knocks).
He continued: “Kepa is still not with the squad, but he has accelerated his rehabilitation.
“Ruben is working out in the gym, so we’re hoping he’ll be able to participate next week, but we’ll see how he goes.
“There are a lot of players at various levels, which is a challenge, but we’re making progress, so that’s a plus.”
Chelsea’s season will continue after Christmas with a Premier League encounter against Bournemouth at home on December 27 due to their third-round elimination from the Carabao Cup.
