Neymar walked off the field late in the second half of Brazil’s first World Cup match due to an injury.
Neymar was noticeably distressed as he departed the field and was seen consulting with team physicians who were putting ice on his obviously swollen ankle.
According to reports, Neymar was crying on the bench and he did not celebrate his team’s victory, instead heading straight down the tunnel with his boot off and swollen foot still visible.
The Paris Saint-Germain attacker has only four days to heal from a sprain,’ according to local media, in order to play in Brazil’s next group match against Switzerland, who defeated Cameroon earlier on Thursday.
Manager Tite must also handle a problem with right-back Danilo, who seemed to strain a muscle but remained on the field until the conclusion of the match because the manager ran out of substitutes.
