Paris Saint-Germain is adamant about retaining Lionel Messi and is sure he will sign a new deal, sources have revealed to “allfootballleague.”
The 35-year-old, who is already a World Cup champion after Argentina triumphed over France in the 2022 final last weekend, is out of contract at the end of the season, and PSG would want him to sign a new term.
“According to allfootballleague, Paris Saint-Germain is eager to grant Messi a new long-term deal. However, it is anticipated that the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner will not commit beyond the next 18 months.
Inter Miami of Major League Soccer has already started steps to encourage Messi to join them in Florida. Still, insiders tell allfootballleague that he will likely remain in Europe for two more seasons.
Messi has been informed that Barcelona would want to have him back. Messi’s family and advisers have urged him to explore this option, but his relationship with president Joan Laporta, which soured when he left Camp Nou in 2021, is the primary concern.
Since then, Laporta has publicly attempted to entice Messi back to Barcelona, a stance he reinforced this week after the star won the World Cup.
