Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, has said again that he is happy at the Emirates Stadium, even though Barcelona is said to be interested in him.
This week, the Spanish media said that Barcelona was happy with their current manager, Xavi, but were keeping an eye on Arteta because they were very impressed with how well he rebuilt the team, which is something Barcelona wants to do right now.
When asked what he thought about the rumours, Arteta, who was a player at the Camp Nou academy, was quick to dismiss them.
At a press conference, he said, “All I can say is that I am happy and proud to be where I am.”
“I think Barcelona is on a good track right now, and I think they have a great coach. Their coach is a legend at the club and has brought the whole place up. I think you should treat that with a lot of care.”
Arteta was signed by Barcelona when he was 15, but he never played for the Blaugrana. Instead, in December 2000, he was sent on loan to Paris Saint-Germain. After that, he made a permanent move to the Scottish team Rangers.
After a successful playing career, Arteta worked for Manchester City under former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola. In late 2019, he took his first step into senior management when he joined Arsenal.
Early on in his time as manager, Arteta got a lot of bad press because people questioned whether he was ready for such a big job. However, after months of struggles, Arteta has proven himself to be a top coach and has led the Gunners to the top of the Premier League.
Barcelona, on the other hand, is out of the Champions League after the group stage and is one point behind European champions Real Madrid in La Liga.
