After England defeated Senegal 3-0 in the World Cup last 16, Phil Foden praised Jude Bellingham, stating his high regard for the 19-year-old.
Bellingham was again key for the Three Lions as they finally made light work of Senegal, but more importantly, he helped England take the lead against the run of play following a dismal first-half effort.
The Borussia Dortmund star is already regarded as one of England’s top players, but Phil Foden – who assisted twice on the night – went one step further.
When asked by ITV to summarise Bellingham’s performance, Foden replied: “I don’t want to overestimate him because he’s still young, but he’s one of the most brilliant players I’ve ever seen. I don’t find any flaws in his game.
“I believe he’s got it all, and I’m certain he’ll be the finest midfielder in the world.”
Foden, widely considered one of the world’s top young midfielders, assessed his performance: “Yes, it was vital to show everyone my game. I was constantly talking about taking my club form into international (games), and this was probably my finest England game, so I’m incredibly thrilled.”
When asked whether he felt Bukayo Saka for his second assist, Foden replied: “Yeah, I saw him in the area and then saw (Kalidou) Koulibaly come over and grab the ball between his legs.
“You know, Bukayo’s excellent at being in the right place at the right time, and I was glad I discovered him.”
England will face France in the World Cup quarterfinals on December 10th.
