The French national team’s coach, Didier Deschamps, has stated that Karim Benzema is “suffering the price” for overuse injuries sustained in past seasons. The Real Madrid striker should be fine to play in France’s opening World Cup match, though.
Benzema missed the 2018 World Cup victory over France because he took a lengthy break from international activity after a scandal in 2015.
After having the best season of his career with Real, winning La Liga, the Champions League, and the Ballon d’Or, Deschamps called him back to the national squad in preparation for Euro 2020.
Muscle issues and fatigue have limited Benzema’s playing time to just seven La Liga games this season, and he has yet to score in any of Los Blancos’ four Champions League group-stage stage stage stage appearances.
There is no doubt in his mind that this World Cup will change the course of his life forever. Deschamps told TF1 that, like the rest of the team, “he will do everything to be ready on November 22.”
Benzema has played too much throughout the period ofof time specified, and he is beginning to see the ill repercussions of this overuse. However, he does acknowledge the significance of the World Cup.
Deschamps also dismissed speculation that Benzema’s recent absence from Real Madrid’s lineup was related to the striker getting some much-needed recuperation ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Benzema had no aversion to joining Real Madrid, but he needed the experience to contribute immediately. However, the coach expressed confidence that the player would be prepared for the World Cup.
Benzema is making his sixth big competition appearance at this year’s World Cup after a six-year absence. Eduardo Camavinga, another Real player, has been selected for Deschamps’ squad and will be making his senior competitive debut debutdebut.
He made his international debut with France in 2020 at the tender age of 17, but the 20-year-old midfielder claims he didn’t learn he had been chosen until it was widely published.
