Letter To the Saudi national team:
It’s nearly time for us to go to see Saudi Arabia play on the largest football platform once again, but before the opening whistle sounds and before you proudly represent our nation, I want to share this message with you. I want you to know that you have our support and that we will be rooting for you at every stage of your trip to Qatar.
I’m Hala Khashoggi, a Jeddah native who plays football for the Ittihad Ladies Football Club while still attending medical school. Since I can remember, I’ve been a supporter of the national team, and you guys gave me the motivation to pursue a career in football. Every time I see the squad wearing the white and green jerseys, I feel a great sense of pride. It motivates me, and I hope it motivates other men and women from the area like Mohammed Noor, Hattan Bahabri, and numerous more. I am extremely happy to be a Saudi Arabian because of what you perform on the pitch, and I know that you will wow everyone in the World Cup in Qatar.
Our national squad has provided us with some incredible experiences throughout the years, the most notable of which was obviously making it to the round of 16 in 1994, which was an incredible accomplishment for a nation of our size. I really think we can do something like this winter.
The current squad impresses me with its camaraderie both on and off the field as well as its contemporary playing style. For our manager Herve Renard, I have one piece of straightforward advice: trust this kind of player and allow our young, promising players an opportunity to shine in the competition.
Unfortunately, I won’t be able to attend the tournament in Qatar since I’ll be competing for my club in the Saudi Women’s Premier League. However, I’m sure I’ll be inspired to give it all I’ve got on the field after seeing you all do it at the World Cup.
I’m looking forward to seeing the incredible experiences you create during the competition this winter. No matter the outcome, we will be by your side to support you through good times and bad, and to encourage you when you need it. It would be wonderful if you advanced to the knockout rounds.
I can only express my gratitude to you for the amazing moments you have provided us throughout the years.
with plenty of love and assistance. Bring us to victory!
Sincerely,
Hala Khashoggi
