The “allfootballleague” has learned that a scan revealed no serious injury to England captain Harry Kane ankle and that Gareth Southgate will make a late decision on Friday on whether or not to play Kane in the match against the United States.
The 29-year-old was hit hard by an Iranian player when England beat Iran 6-2 in their first Group B game at the 2022 World Cup.
Harry Kane kept playing until the last 15 minutes when he was replaced by Callum Wilson. He was sent for a scan on Wednesday to find out how bad the injury was after he kept complaining of pain.
Southgate told the press right after the game that he thought Kane was “fine,” and a scan has confirmed that England’s star player is not seriously hurt.
Allfootballleague knows that he is still hurting from the knock, even though he trained with the rest of England’s team on Wednesday. After training, Jordan Pickford told the media that Kane was “a little bit sore” but had been “on the grass today.”
Southgate will decide at the last minute if England will risk Kane against the U.S., who struggled to a 1-1 draw with Wales after a strong start.
In their first game, against Iran, the Three Lions were lively and exciting, and they took a number of the chances that came their way.
Kane, who is only behind Wayne Rooney on England’s all-time list of goal-scorers, did not score. Instead, Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka (two), Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford, and Jack Grealish scored in a convincing performance.
